Free Website?

Effective and Low Cost, but not Free

You may have searched the internet for free or low-cost church websites. I have. Usually what I find is that sites that at first appear to be free really aren't. You get free design, but have to pay each month for hosting. Or, hosting is free, but you have to pay design and setup fees. Somehow, it just doesn't seem free.

But still, you may think you can find a truly free website for your church or organization. Please read on...

Let's think about free. Is anything of value really free? Not really. If it is free to you, someone else has paid. I think that is universally true. Same here. We tried offer free websites for churches. We found that we could not sustain that effort. If you do find an offer a truly free website - and there are some - someone still has to pay for it. If it isn't you or your church, it's whoever is providing your website. We have put thousands of hours of work into our website infrastructure and software - so has every other website provider. And we pay monthly server and communication fees. No, it's not really free.

The real question is: who will pay for your website? When it comes down to it, ultimately you need to take that responsibility.

What we strive to do is to provide effective, highly functional websites at a very attractive cost. And we allow you to create a fully functional website for your church and use it for free for 30 days. If you decide to not continue with our program, just do nothing. You will never be charged for those trial days.

PLEASE NOTE: You may see some references for a short time to 'My Free Church Site' and similar suggestion of free a website. We are not trying to fool you. We tried for many years to offer free websites. We could not continue that effort. We are in the process of making a transition from 'Free' to 'Low Cost and Effective'. Please email us if you have any concerns or questions about this.

Effective

What does it mean to have an effective website? Is it important? YES.

Your website is only effective if it provides real value to your visitors. Those visitors will include both members of your church, and also members of the general public who visit your website. Each will view effectiveness differently, but it is important to both.

Involvement

Planning, providing, and maintaining a great quality website is a group effort. Although we provide the technical expertise and hardware/software intrastructure, we rely heavily on members of participating churches to provide content and to maintain the changing data that is presented on their website.
